The neat nails attract the eye and complement the overall appearance. With all nail polish color options, if you like nail polish, you will be spoiled. But some daily habits can damage your nails, here are some:

According to Iddi Nuwagaba, a manicure and pedicure expert at Gisementi Inshungu Hair Salon, nail biting is not just something kids do, adults do it too, it’s a bad habit.

Biting your nails for a long time can cause bumps and bumps on the nails, making you vulnerable to infection of the skin around the nails and ulcers. "It can even change the appearance and growth of nails. To avoid this, try applying nail polish because it makes them difficult to bite easily," he suggested.

Nuwagaba said that once it starts to peel off, people can easily peel off the nail polish, which is dangerous because it accompanies the first layer of the nail.

"This will weaken the nails. It is best to stay on the chipped nails until you find a solution or nail polish remover, and then remove it in a better way," Nuwagaba said.

Nuwagaba said that many people prefer to use gel because it can last for a long time, which may reduce the number of times they go to salons. However, the process of removing the gel is a bit harsh, because the metal removal polish is used, which affects the nail bed.

Manicurists say that long-term use of nail polish without rest can damage the nails and leave white spots after the varnish is removed. He recommends letting the nails breathe occasionally.

You may be wondering how long it takes to keep your nails from falling off—experts say that for natural nails, three to four weeks of rest is enough to make the discoloration fade. As for the gel, rest at least one week every eight weeks to rehydrate the nails and repair the underlying structure.

Nuwagaba also said that some people will soon use their nails to peel off stickers or anything stuck somewhere, which can break their nails. He urged the use of the right tools to get the job done, instead of doing things that shouldn't be done with nails.

Use nails to pull up the leggings

"Some customers come to manicure, and I noticed that their nails are broken in the middle, and it even hurts. The reason for this is that when you wear tights, you will pull them up very hard to make them fit. In the process, it is the nail that is injured. The nail that breaks in the middle takes even longer to grow out," Nuwagaba said.

Manicurists say that regular use of detergent will shorten the life of nail polish. But you can look for alternative methods, such as gloves, in case you use detergent to clean or wash dishes.

Nuwagaba said that if you apply lotion, your hands and nails will look healthy. "Make sure to wash your hands with soap and gently apply lotion after wiping them dry. If you use moisturizer more frequently, it will form a protective barrier to prevent irritation and dehydration."

Experts say that junk food not only damages your health, but also damages the health of your nails, hair and skin.
